*Solved* Action Crashing problem

Sun May 12, 2013 4:59 pm

This is my first post here, just wanted to give people here a head's up of a probable solution on how to solve the problem of Action! crashing on startup. The issue i was facing is mentioned in detail in the post below:

http://forum.mirillis.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=29058

This might not be applicable to all

Here's my device configuration:
Lenovo Y580
Nvidia GTX 660 M + Intel HD 4000. Nvidia Optimus + Intel Quicksync
Windows 7 Home premium with SP1
Intel 3610QM quad-core processor
All latest updates installed with latest drivers and Direct X

Here's my history of the steps I followed trying to resolve the issue,
1. Installed latest Nvidia 314.22 drivers from the website
*crashes*
2. As per suggested in the forums, uninstalled the windows update KB2670838
*crashes*
3. Reinstalled Direct X
*Crashes*
4. Running action as an administrator explicitly in windows
*Crashes*

Before doing all the above steps, as support told me, I did the following,
1. Uninstalled Action! completely, making sure all folders are deleted.
2. Made sure to run CCleaner everytime
3. Delete the following registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Mirillis/
Remove Action! catalog.
4. Restart PC and try installing again

After trying everything, I did the following,
1. Uninstall all the graphics card drivers(the latest intel and nvidia drivers)
2. Uninstall action as mentioned above
3. Install drivers which came on the Lenovo's website. The website has an older version of the Nvidia drivers(305.xx)
4. Install action

After following the above steps, it finally worked! Action! launches successfully each time now. I made sure that the Microsoft update is uninstalled everytime.

I hope this helps some of the users like me, who have a similar config/graphics card.

And thank you Mirillis for making such a great product!
