I like Action!

Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:50 pm

Hi everyone. New here. I would like start off share some words to you, what I think of Action!

In these past 3 weeks, I have done quite a lot testing with the game mode, desktop and region mode, let me just say typical game and desktop recordings.
To this, I also tried virtually every other similar competing trial software I could find, simply to compare and see what other guys had to offer.
I must say Action! however really stands out here, doing overall better. I understand why you call yourselves the no. 1.

This is how I would describe Action!:
Very few headaches, amazing colorful recordings, no audio desync, great audio, impressive smooth raw playback in build-in player, even smooth playback in supported third party players, decent export feature (once adjusted right) and finally, no import issues in my Sony Vegas Pro 11.

I can also say, Perfect Video Match mode matters.
I one time played a full HD test movie with fast moving objects and tried recorded with and without proper adjusted match mode. When adjusted, I could actually see a small improvement, seriously. The recording became absolutely fluid like the original.

I tried the android app as well. Once I gave firewall permissions, it worked. Great thing you can control and monitor your recording time. Useful app!

Few tips from me, to make usability better. Might help others!

- Record video content in fullscreen for best results.

- Avoid change game graphic settings while Action! is running in background, I experienced Action! sometime would fail to record properly afterward.

- If game fps is very very high (200+), I in this case also experienced some instability with either game or Action! Enabling v-sync has prove me solve problems here.

- If exporting 1920x1080 content in Action!, use the auto present.

My ideas to improve Action!:

- In the list of recordings and opening up the rightclick menu, it is too easy to hit "delete all" instead of "delete selected". I have accidently clicked and lost some videos that way. Feel free to comment on this.

- In the list of recordings, it is slightly too hard to read the line with available disk space and so. Thinking dark grey colored text bleeds too much into this current dark color theme. A brighter text color would suit better.
