Cannot fix grey window in desktop region mode

Hi folks,
I've had this problem since the summer and I cannot seem to get rid of it, I thought that maybe an update might fix it but no.
Basically the screen region capture is waaay to big and massive and is therefore grey indicating that it is recording on 2 desktops, but I have only ever had one. Apart from that when I try to resize the window it instantly takes it to a smaller area that still goes beyond my screen and wont let me change beyond that.
Nor am I able to view the little blue box at the bottom giving the resolutions and stuff.
Any help with the issue would be much appreciated.
