APU2ENC.DLL Crash With Aero (1.17.3/4)
Posted: Sat Mar 01, 2014 8:26 pm
Just as the title says, when starting up either 1.17.3 or 1.17.4 version of Action, and Aero is enabled, I'll receive a crash (shown below) 99 times out of 100 -- I can be sitting on an idle desktop after a fresh reboot and this crash will still happen. The only way for me to get around this is to disable Aero, startup Action, and then re-enable Aero.
I've also tried closing the program in game capture mode so that it would start in a mode that wasn't directly using Aero, but the crash continues to happen. This wasn't always happening, but it seems to have begun after I updated my drivers, noticed a loss in performance, and reverted my drivers back to 331.82. I always install only the base driver and PhysX, and enabling or disabling SLI does not seem to make a difference -- I'm also not using any sort of surround mode. Besides the quick change in drivers, the only other events that I can recall happening on my machine within the last week or so have only been updates for Windows.
I can handle using the workaround for the time being, but I figured I would report this here in case it was useful or if anyone else was experiencing this.
