Any tips for reducing the performance hit of recording? I game at 1440P and currently use the MP4 AMD APP option to record. I notice sometimes the gpu usage drops quite low whilst recording.WebMaximus wrote:Cool to see how you keep updating your already great software, I'm still amazed how low the FPS footprint is while recording if even noticeable!
One simple thing I've been missing though already since I bought Action! is the ability to mark several video clips for export rather than having to export them one by one.
Is there any chance you could add that functionality?
Maybe i should try AVI then? Maybe its because im at 1440P res but there is a performance hit and it comes with gpu usage dropping, as im on crossfire. As you can see from my spcs above, i have a super fast pc.WebMaximus wrote:I record using AVI format @ 30 FPS and video size set to original which is 1920 in my case when recording my desktop and I use the High quality recording setting under the Settings tab.
Using these settings I don't see any FPS drop at all but I guess it also comes down to what CPU and GPU you have. I'm on a 4770K @ 4.5 GHz and a GTX Titan so I have a fairly powerful computer.
My experience has always been the same: Recording with AVI Original 30fps with High quality gets me barely any lag during in-game. And by barely i mean very tiny lagspikes here and there, mostly 0.1-0.4 seconds. Other than that though, it feels like i'm not recording at allWebMaximus wrote:My guess is as good as your's, maybe someone else with more knowledge could comment what settings are best to use to keep the FPS footprint as low as possible.
All I know is that using the settings I mentioned in my post above I don't even notice when I'm recording
