Action! stops recording even though it says it is.

Hey guys...

Getting really tired of this happening. I go to record and I'll end up going for 30 minutes or even an hour. I end the recording only to find out Action! has recorded between 2 minutes to under 10 minutes. I don't have the setting where it sets the time length on. I've had to rerecord more than a few times due to this and it is becoming beyond frustrating -- I'm thankful that what I'm recording allows me to do retakes. It also seems to just do this at random. Sometimes it works just fine and I'll get the full 30 minutes or more.

What's going on with this? I have the commercial version and this isn't at all what I was expecting.

It just happened again and I lost over 21 minutes of material. The HUD that comes up in the corner says it is recording. How can I use a program if I can't trust it? Any suggestions before I ask flat out for a refund? This is ridiculous, this shouldn't be happening, haha!

Computer Spec's (if this helps):
Windows Pro 7 64-bit
Intel Core i7 Q720
8GB RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 880M (1GB Dedicated Video)

This thing is works well with other things. Can run practically any game without a hitch and run complex, intense Mathematica computations neatly.

Thanks.

I have exactly the same issue. Did you ever work out how to fix this?

My recordings always seem to be around 4.8gb or 4 mins. Like you, they appear to record for any length of time and it is only when you look at the completed file you can see the error.

Cheers mate.

What's the CPU usage during the recording? Have you tried changing Action! priority to High in your task manager?

Hi Radi,

I will have a look tonight as well as checking on the priority of Action. I'll also try recording at 720p instead of 1080p if it is a CPU issue.

Cheers.

How was the CPU and 720p testing?

I have this same issue. Action! appears to be recording until I press stop. Then I look at the videos and they are only ~2 minutes long.

Also Action! records at an odd speed, when played back the video is sped up somewhat like its being slightly fast forwarded.

This all started happening when I upgraded from Vista to Win 7. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Action! no luck.

It seems that this issue occurs with some of our users and it's usually related to the performance loss. However our developers are currently looking for a potential solution to this.

I am on the receiving end of this problem also plus experiencing a CTD when the recording goes the distance and I try to come out of the program ... the net result of both of these issues is a total waste of my time and energy not to mention the ultimate in frustration. I am about to try FRAPS and if the next Action update does not solve these issues I will be requesting a refund for this software and replacing it with something that does what it is supposed to ...
