Problem recording gameplay

Thu Sep 11, 2014 10:44 pm

OS: Windows 8.1
Video Card: NVIDIA Optimus
Monitor Resolution: 1280x720
Game Problem: Pharaoh (by Sierra)
Video Type: AVI

I recently installed the game Pharaoh, the old 90's strategy game by Sierra, on my PC. I wanted to show some gameplay of it on my Youtube channel, so I went ahead and played for about half an hour (or more, because I was hoping to edit it for the best moments later). While Mirillis Action! is on, I also use Debut to record my webcam and Audacity for the microphone audio, all at the same time. That is the way I usually record other videos with facecam and it has worked until now. As I was about to extract all the files to my video editor, I noticed the video files Action! created for the Pharaoh gameplay had been corrupted. (I had to record it several times - hence several files -, because I was also having trouble with my webcam, and fixed them.) One of the files seems to be an infinite loop of my arrow moving from point A to B, as I select a different moment in the file's timeline. The others are completely dark, no sound or anything. One thing I noticed as I start recording is, the F9 button in that game resizes the game resolution, and only after that will the recording start, when I press it a second time. This happens on Active Desktop Region Capture Mode. If I select Game Capture Mode, as soon as I hit F9, the screen goes black and I can't see a thing, although I still hear the game running.

This has been one really frustrating day... I hope I have explained everything clearly. I'd like to give that gameplay a go again tomorrow, but sure you can't answer me that quickly. In any case, I'd appreciate a response shortly.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Hermy Blake
