Any tips for smaller file sizes with webcam?

Hey guys,

I have been using Action! for a while now and I really like it for the most part, particular the small file sizes. I've just started incorporating webcam into my gameplay videos, but it makes the files HUGE. A previous recording with no webcam was 6 GB at 37 minutes long, while this new recording with webcam is 14 minutes long and 8 GB. I can't be having huge file sizes because my upload speed isn't great. Currently trying to upload the newest one to YouTube and it's at 80% and it has been uploading for about 13 hours lol.

So does anyone have any tips on how to reduce file sizes? I would rather not remove the webcam. If anyone records their webcam separately, please post which software you do that with.

Thanks!

I guess you are recording into AVI format. Have you tried switching to MP4?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I decided to just render the videos, I thought that I could just upload them without rendering because I didn't need to edit them, but I have realised that rendering reduces the file size greatly (it went from ~10 GB to ~150 MB lol). I am still new to all of this, and learning! Thanks anyway :)
