Low fps with beast pc?

I just built myself a pretty beast pc and I'm still getting low fps when recording.

I7-2600k
6970x2
16g ram
250gb samsung evo ssd
1tb seagate

I'm trying to record some heroes of the storm in 1080@60fps but when I hit record the fps drop is pretty bad, jumping between 25to45ish.

The game and action are installed on the ssd and its recording to the seagate drive, could that be my issue or is it just impossible to hold 60fps with 1080p regardless of setup or settings?
Also my mic seems to be cutting out, but that might be a seperated issue.
