Recording coming out as MP4, when set as AVI.

Hey Mirillis Forum,
Whenever I record either gameplay or my desktop screen, my video file format, even if I set it to AVI, will automatically be MP4 when I end the recording. This is truly bugging me as I wish to upload straight from the program to YouTube and Action! just gives me the grey button of death

Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 8570 / Intel i5-4440
Memory: 8 GB
Monitor Resolution: 1680x1050
Video Editor: Vegas 12
