.avi and .MP4(hardware) has the same impact on performance

Sun Oct 04, 2015 11:18 pm

Back when MP4(AMD) was introduced, I was blown away by the performance and quality of Action!. But several patches later, the quality started to look weird (Artifacting, smudged, etc.), and even more patches later, the videos started to be extremely laggy.

When the laggy videos issue got fixed, Action! ran fine for a few patches until two patches after Timeshift got introduced. Now I'm not only dropping frames in .avi, but in every codec!

Now the only advantage for MP4 is to ease the space of the harddrive, but that's also getting increased (from 1GB/10min to 1GB/5min).

Please reply to this, I just have to know why it suddenly started to impact my performance.

Specs:

[*] CPU: Intel Core i5-3570

[*] GPU: Radeon R9 Fury X

[*] RAM: Corsair XMS3 12GB

[*] OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

[*] Action! version: 1.27.0.0

I think it was the 1.25.3 patch that I started to notice dips on, I remember that the patch notes mentioned AMD, and the date seems to fit pretty good with Windows 10.
