Which one is better? Quick Sync or AMD App?

I just got an i7-4790k, and when I started Action! I noticed that I had Intel Quick Sync enabled instead of AMD App.
Does this mean that Action! records using the GPU in the CPU, or does it use the CPU to record?
And which one is better? My GPU is a Fury X, so nothing low end exactly.
Edit: So apparently 66% of all Quick Sync videos failed to render, so I was left with unusable files. AMD APP it is then!
