Action! recording settings (0-255 vs 16-235)

Sun Apr 03, 2016 2:19 pm

I understand that Action gives you the option to record in either Full RGB 0-255 and limited RGB 16-235...
TV and movies supposedly use 16-235 input range while games and applications on the PC use the 0-255 range.
Apparently, due to film content being 16-235 by nature, when using a media player such as VLC it will convert the content from Limited RGB to full RGB so it displays correctly on the monitor. However, when I spoke to Action support, they said you should record using limited RGB (16-235) for films/movies. But, surely if you are watching movies on PC through a media player such as VLC, it has already converted the content in to the full RGB spectrum meaning you should record in full RGB (0-255)..
What's correct?
