Action AVI output is laggy

So recently I got action to record some gameplay (mainly minecraft) to edit and upload to youtube however, whenever I record with AVI as my selected output the recording completely lags, the pattern is: freezes, goes in slow motion, stops, repeat. Even when I put it in my editing software (Song Vegas Pro 12) and look at it to check if it fixes the problem nope, it lags like crazy and continues the same pattern, I've been searching the web for the past week now to see if anyone has had the same problem but haven't found anything that can help me. Lots of my friends are also stuck with the same problem. Please do not recommend MP4 / MP4 NVIDEA instead of AVI as it completely lags my pc. Hopefully I can get a solution to this but thanks for reading
