Action fps issues

Recently installed action specifically for 1080p or 720p 120 fps footage for slow motion in Minecraft.
Normally I'm around 150-250 fps depending on settings by when I open action (not recording just having the game selected as the capture device) I lose about half of my frames whilst not recording and I get the two red arrows going in circle on the overlay/his. My fps is sometimes better when I am recording.
Is there a fix to this?
