Sound and microphones

Hello!
My son wants to use Action to record his gameplaying. We found out how to record his games BUT the microphone does not seem to register what he says. The recording does register the music and other sounds in the game.
The microphones have been used earlier for other recordings.
Is there a box somewhere we should tic or what else might we have missed?
