A quick search of this forum didn't reveal any answer to my question. I apologize in advance if the answer's already out there and I missed it.

Has anyone had success performing the same sort of trick with Windows 10 build 1607?

Clicking "Detect" in Windows 10 simply shows red text saying "Didn't detect another display.", and I can't go any further.

I'd like to be able to use Quick Sync encode options whisle reserving GPU power for other uses.

As far as I know there is no need to detect additional desktop to make it work with IQS on Windows 10. Make sure that you use latest version and iGPU is enabled in your BIOS settings.

Yes as long as igpu is enabled in bios, and quicksync is selected in Action is should work, I have 4790k and Discrete card 980ti as primary graphics, if you open GPUZ and select HD4600 from drop down box if you stasrt a recording of say your desktop, with the sensors tab selected your see the GPU core boost to 1300MHz, or what ever your igpu boost clock is...
so no need for dummy monitor
