1080p capture a little jerky

Hello,

I'm a new user and generally things are going well. I'm trying to capture 1080p video where the original video is 30fps. The resulty is pretty good, but the motion isn't perfectly smooth compared to the original. I've been told (not on this forum) that there is no reason to capture at 60fps if the original source is 30fps. Is this correct? Is there anything else I might try to get a better result?

EDIT: Further testing shows that I clearly get a better result recording at 60 fps even if the source is 30 fps. When I transcode the video if I remain at 60 fps the motion is pretty smooth. However, if I transcode at 30 fps it becomes as jerky as if I had screen grabbed at 30 fps. Further, comparing 2 15 seconds transcodes where everything remained constant except for the frame rate gives files of 13.4 MB and 14.9 MB. I would have thought that twice the # of frames would produce a file of ca. 26 MB.

Is there something about the FICV codec that might be tripping up transcoding. I've experimented with Sony Vegas, VideRedo, and HandBrake.

Hello,

if the source has 30 fps and you record in 60 fps you will get video with 60 frames in every second, but only 30 frames will be unique. In other words, in every second there will be 30 pairs of the same (more or less) frames.
