Timeshift does constant disk writing instead of using RAM

Which degrades SSDs unneccessarily. At least there should be an option to keep the recording in the memory, and only flush it to disk when we trigger a save.

Playing an 1080p game with Ultra settings does 3-9 MB/s write to SSD which means an hour of gameplay writes 10,8-32,4GB of data. Storing 30 seconds would only use 90-270MB of memory.

Thank your for your feedback, but Time-Shift feature uses only 4GB of your disk.

Better late than never I guess.

The probelm isn't that it's using 4GB of disk space, the problem is that it uses that 4GB of disk space over and over again causing write.

Timeshift should have an option not to use any disk space at all and instead use 4GB of memory. And if the user would save Timeshift then, and only then it should be flushed from RAM to disk.

Anyway, I've moved away from Mirillis products because of the lack of updates.

There is an option in Time-Shift settings to use RAM instead of HDD/SSD.
