rFactor 2 (Steam) Will Not Launch When Action! Is Open

Hello Everyone

This is a new issue that I started recently. Most of the time I run Steam is to use rFactor 2 or other simulator. Action! has been working perfectly since I bought it a while back. I normally launch Action! then run the SimCommander 4 software for my AccuForce wheel, I launch rFactor 2 from SimCommander 4 as I do all other simulators, record in game.

The problem seems to be specific to rFactor 2, with or without SimCommander, if I have Action! open , rFactor 2's Launcher App starts, I then start the game but it quits without error message before it loads. I have tried this with other simulators but they launch without issue.

As this problem is new and seems to be specific to rFactor 2, has anyone else encountered something similar? Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

Since I mostly use rFactor 2 and record videos from it, this is a big issue for me, any help is appreciated.

Hello Voltaic,

Can you please try to run Action! after rFactor 2 is running and the game launcher is closed. You can also check if the launcher has a specific exe name and if so you can create exclude txt file in Action! install directory and add this launcher exe name in this file. We will also try to reproduce this problem in our lab.

Hello Radi and thank you for the prompt reply.

I followed your advise, I launched the rFactor 2 Launcher> got into the game> started Action!> rFactor 2 crashed without error warning, it just stopped.

I then created the "exclude.txt" file as indicated here viewtopic.php?f=36&t=43919, I wrote "Launch rFactor" (the name of the launcher) and saved it to the root Action! folder. Unfortunately the result was the same, rFacto 2 instantly quits if Action! is running or when I start it up after the fact. The rFactor Launcher is unaffected if Action! is running.

rFactor 2 went through a major update this past Friday, it may have had something to do with this issue?

Thank you for this information. We will check this. For now, try adding not the launcher process, but the game process to the exclude file. You won't be able to record this game in Game Mode, but you can try recording in Screen Mode.

I did as you suggested, I changed the exclude from the launcher app to the "rFactor2.exe" and was able to launch rFactor 2 and record video in both Scree and Area modes without issues.

Please let me know if I should try anything else to help you pinpoint the problem and/or please keep me informed.
