Banding Issue During Streaming

I posted a help thread long ago about another issue--I have solved that issue.

Now when I stream, at 1080p60 all of a sudden the stream is basically banding across the screen where one part is perfectly fine but there are bands or strips where it is incredibly pixelated and delayed. There is no issue with audio, it is just the video.

Here is a video I streamed last night of Life is Strange 2. It starts out perfectly fine but then at 2:30 minutes the issue starts. I'm not sure what is going on, since this issue hasn't gone away and I am using the latest version of Action. I have 43 Mbps of upload speed and gigabit download, so it shouldn't be my internet but we can't rule that out since it can be anything really.

My GPU is never overloaded since I use hardware encoding on my AMD Vega 56 GPU OC'd to 1700 MHz. I have tried both AMF and AMF HEVC and both have the same issue. This happens to both YouTube and Twitch and custom RTMP.

I do play on a 1440p Monitor and stream at 1080p60 because Twitch hasn't grown up and accepted higher quality video.

I have included a DxDiag for your convenience. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please provide us screenshots of Action! configuration.

I couldn't upload the 1 MB file here, but here's a link to my OneDrive with the ZIP with the screenshots.

I have tested every setting with the available options on Video/Live Stream pages including video quality settings. The only thing I have not yet touched was the Audio bitrate settings, but I doubt that would cause an issue? The banding does not happen on recorded files, it only happens when streaming.

Sorry for the late reply, I realized I was not subscribed to the thread.

Does the issue occur with every game?

Yes, issue occurs in every game I play. Some games may have different times where it takes longer to happen. Typically, I stream long times.

I found that alt-tabbing causes an audio delay and increases the likelihood of the banding happening. 2 other games where it happens frequently are Star Control: Origin and Elite: Dangerous.

As an added note: The banding issue is not present in Action! v4.3.0. You can use that has a starting point for my issue at least, anything v4.3.1 and beyond the banding issue is present.

For drivers, I'm using 20.1.4 for my Vega 56 -- it is an outdated driver but AMD hasn't yet figured out why new versions crashes the GPU after extended periods of gameplay and even crashing the driver when using video accelerated content. It is the only driver that does not crash my GPU the way I want to use it.

The issue was also present before, on my old System that had a Intel Xeon E5-2667 processor with 32 GB of DDR3-1600 ECC Memory. Same GPU.

Hi all,

I have the exact same issue. The video quality gets destroyed after a few minutes in live streams. The first few minutes are okay but a few minutes later the picture quality is extremely bad.

Just take a look on this .

I'm using Action version 4.10.2.

I have lot of upload speed so my internet connection is not the issue here.

Adam413 said that the issue started with Action version 4.3.1 so something changed in the code of Action that caused this issue and it's still not fixed. Please fix this because streaming is not possible with up to date Action version!

Do you use AMD AMF hardware acceleration as well?

Yes.
My CPU is (Core i5-3470) is not enough for software encoding, so I'm always using AMD AMF acceleration.
I'm using an RX470 (4GB). Driver version is 20.2.1 this includes the latest AMF version 1.4.16
Windows version: Windows 10 x64 1909
I used bitrate of 8,5 Mbit/s which is within the official recommendation (Google recommends 12 Mbps for 1080p60 stream)

There is no issue with regular recordings, this happens only on live streams.
