Game Problem: Doom Eternal with HDR enabled

I know that one of the last updates to Action! mentioned fixes for Doom Eternal, but I'm unable to make the HUD show up ingame or take screenshots when HDR is enabled.

It makes no difference if fullscreen or borderless, it makes no difference is V-Sync is on or off, it makes no difference if async compute (which the game mentions should be disabled if one runs into problems with external overlays) is on or off.

Other games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Red Dead Redemtion 2 with their take on HDR work just fine. Both these games have in common that you need to enable HDR in the windows display settings first, while Doom Eternal does not require this. I'm currently downloading The Division 2, another game capable of using HDR without relying on the Windows setting to see if the problem is tied to that.

Any input would be appreciated. I already bought Action!, couple days ago, because it was the only software capable of actually taking HDR screenshots in Horizon Zero Dawn and would hate to run into issues with other HDR games.

Game works on our end with and without HDR. Does the problem occur when you start the game in HDR and if you enable HDR while running game?

When I start the game with HDR it does not work. When I disable HDR the Action! HUD appears. When I enable it again it disappears again.

I'll try starting DOOM Eternal without HDR enabled and enable it when ingame, see if that makes any difference.

But now comes the real interesting part: V-Sync makes a difference! I turn it on, while HDR is active and the Action! HUD appears!



Now that's nothing I'd like to do, meaning playing with V-Sync enabled, but might be something for you to look into.

See I do have a DELL S3220DGF with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, running on an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super. So I have my driver set up to "G-Sync Compatible" for "Fullscreen". Which works perfectly fine but might be the reason why Action! does not work...somehow. That's probably for you to figure out, let me know if you need any more data.

Seems we are getting there. The latest updates fixed "HDR capturing when V-Sync is disabled". And low and behold, the Action! HUD can now be enabled and shows up in Doom Eternal.

...there is only a minor gripe though. Taking a screenshot doesn't work. I press the button, nothing happens. The HUD doesn't show the little icon for taking a screenshot. It's like inputs are not registered although Action! is running fine...or maybe it's not.

Still works in other games, Doom Eternal seems to be a real piece of work though. ^^ Steam overlay was off, of course. And other overlays like Nvidia Shadowplay are not only off, but not installed at all.

Taking screenshots in Vulkan apps is not implemented yet.
