Can't stream to Youtube with Action!, OBS streaming works fine

Fri Nov 20, 2020 8:35 pm

I've been a happy Action! user for several years. Love the easy interface, good options and been streaming with Action! for years to my YT channel. Earlier this year my streaming to youtube stopped working. I had several messages where Action! said it couldn't login to my yt channel. At that moment I was just fed up with these messages and started using OBS. A bit of a hassle, but at least it WORKS.

Now I want to go back using Action! again as I think OBS consumes a bit of system resources and I think (or can remember) that Action! works better in this respect.

I don't use the Youtube login as it simply doesn't work anymore for me. The livestream is "initiated" and created, but for the love of god I can't get it up and running with video and audio. Now I tried the custom setup where I use the yt server name and stream key. When I start the stream I get a green connection in my yt livestream dashboard, the livestream timer starts......and then nothing but black screen. I then get the message that that YouTube isn't receiving any data for this stream. I double double triple checked the stream key. The same stream key is working perfectly with OBS.

So I get fed up with trying and trying and trying over and over again. Now I took the effort to create an account on this forum and shout out for help. I searched on Google and YouTube and for some magical reason it seems I'm the only one having this issue (can't find anything) and I sincerely hope that someone here might have an idea or a hint for me on what is going wrong with my Action! stream and why it doesn't work.

Anybody have ANY idea?

Regards,

melgi

Hi Piotr,

Thank you for your reply. I added the screenshots as requested. For the audio I took 2 screenshots: one from settings-> audio and the other one from the audio tab.

Additional info:
I have two screens: Samsung C49RG90 with resolution of 5120x1440 with freesync and 120 fps and 1 full hd screen with 60 fps. Maybe freesync is causing issues? I doubt it as I am able to stream with OBS.

I hope you can help me with my issue. If you need any more info, please let me know.

Regards,

Mohammed

You have the "Record streamed video to disk" option enabled. Start streaming, that should start the recording as well. Send us the recorded video.

Hi Piotr,

Ok, I will do that. How can I send the video to you? Can I upload it somewhere? Do you want me to stream a game or for instance a view from an application? I can stream the notepad application and type something in it, so you can use that. Is that ok?

Mohammed

You can stream your desktop with youyr YouTube Live Studio visible so we can see the problem as well.
You can upload the video to Dropbox or Google Drive and share a link.

Hi Piotr,

I made a stream and recorded the video at the same time. I uploaded it to this https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing . I hope you can help me pin point where my issue is and how to solve it to be able to stream to YT like I did in the past.

There is no audio track in your stream. YouTube requires audio track. Go to Settings -> Audio and enable "Record sounds" option.

Piotr,

Thank you A MILLION times!!!!! That was the trick! I must've unticked this option sometime earlier this year and can't believe this was what was holding me back from using Action! Mirillis. Again thank you so much for solving this issue!

Maybe you mention this also in your manual or yt videos on how to enable YT streaming. I watched those videos a couple of times, but didn't notice this. Or maybe I've missed this completely.

You made my day!

Regards,

melgi
