Nvidia CQP mode still missing!

Mon Mar 08, 2021 4:43 pm

Hi!

I am writing here on the forum to ask you for clarification on the "Nvidia CQP Mode" registration mode announced with the changelog of version 4.11.0, scheduled for the next version but never seems to have arrived.

Why? is it the same evolved NVENC "new" codec used for the latest version of obs?

I await your reply! Thank you!

Hi jakspoon,

We remember about you :) CQP is already implemented internally but targeted for version 5.0 (as GUI changes are needed for the advanced features).

No idea what the "new" and "old" are. We have our own implementation written from ground up.

If you want we can allow to set this via registry (by hand) to play with.

BTW if you have not seen the new GUI:

Ohhh perfect! I'm waiting the final v.5.0... Do you have an estimate of how long it will take before it is released?

"New" is the latest version of NVENC Encoder available with latest NVIDIA Video Codec SDK (witch is using with the latest version of OBS), which allows you to take advantage of the latest technologies of nvidia video cards to improve quality and in the meantime reduce the performance impact!

Thanks again!

I would like to be able to use the registry CQP if possible.

We were targeting Q1 2021 but it will probably be end of Q2. As for the "new" we already have this implemented since 2 years.

Hi jakspoon,

We are super sorry for this. We had to move the advanced encoder setup to Action 5. We are testing v4.19.0 now that will be the last big update for Action 4 and Action 5 will follow.
