4.20.2: ... doesn't detect STEAM GAMES!

Hello guys,

right now I'm having some issues with Mirillis Action. Version: 4.20.2.

I started 4 different games on Steam, none of them are detected by Mirillis Action.
The game is running on my first monitor. Mirillis Action is opened on the second so I can actually use the "Preview" to see the game running on it and being recorded.

The HUD doesn't appear and the "Preview" is just telling me the standard "text notice": 'Make sure a game is running and use the key to record it'.
THe record button is greyed out. So there is no recognition by Mirillis, although a game is running all the time.

What's going on, how do I fix this?
Can someone help me out?

Thanks...
Greetz 👌🏼

Hi bKay,

Does this happen on all titles? Please send us the title of the Window of the game (or the game title itself so we can run tests in out lab).

Thank you.

Hey Watchman,

the game title is: "RESIDENT EVIL 5" (on Steam!)

I actually tried a few other games aswell. NONE of them are working, such as:
• Combat Arms: Reloaded
• Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
• Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
• Mount Your Friends
• SpeedRunners
• War Rock

... these are just some of the games in my library and it doesn't matter which game is running, mirillis just won't detected them in "Game"-mode.

EXRTAORDINARY: I also have a physical CD-exemplar of the game Resident Evil 5. I installed it - for testing purposes - and launched it. / It worked and I could record normally in game mode, because Mirllis then just decided to actually detect the game.

So I'm still pretty sure, there are some problems with Steam...

Just tested:

• RESIDENT EVIL 5
• Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
• Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

and they all work in Game mode. If this would be a bug in Action! we would be probably flooded with thousands of emails.
Do you use some kind of additional overlay in Steam?

No, I don't... I just don't know. What could be the issue. What else is stopping Action! from doing his work probably?

Hi bKay,

Please go to folder:
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Temp

In this folder log files are created for every game in Game Mode. So for example for Resident Evil 5 you should see rt5_action.log.

Can you see this file???

It is called "re5dx9_action.log"

It has just one line: DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH (UWP: 0)

... So... What does it mean?

That Action has properly connected to this game and you should see the HUD :/

NO BUDDY, that's wrong!
Sorry for actually correct you, but...

I just started CS:GO and somehow it worked, this time it was actually recognizing the game.
However... I just opened the "log.-file" and it was saying THIS:

DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH (UWP: 1)
D3D9 present seen

So there must be something wrong with the game files...

I think I know what's causing the issue.

I just google "Resident Evil 5 Mirllis Action enb", then I found a thread (created in this forum), that ENB-mods and SweetFX aren't really get along with Mirillis Action.

People were asking for a fix, that was in 2013, did anything changed since then?
That would explain why the disk version (the originally without graphic mods), was connected probably with Action, but the Steam version, which has the mod installed, is not...

I will try to remove the mods and give it another try, if it doesn't work... then I'm just gonna give up on it.
