Action! won't record video games, only records a still image, cursor and audio

Haven't been using it much the last year or so, needed to record some video for issues I was having and I couldn't do it. Kerbal Space Program and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the two video games I've tried recording. I was using a years old verson of Action! so I downloaded and reinstalled the latest version (4.23.0), same issue. Recording in window mode results in a black screen with audio, gaming mode does not let me record anything at all. Any help is very much appreciated.
