Issue with Audio crackling

I have a strange problem. I bought Mirillis Action via Steam and I hope you can help me:

I use two audio tracks per recording, one for the computer sound and the second for my microphone. Computer sound is reduced to 30% in Mirillis. If, for example, a video is played with sound in the background, everything is fine. As soon as the sound is playing in the background and someone else makes a sound, that very sound is massively overdriven/clipped and hurts the ears. I was able to trace the issue all the way back to version 4.17. From version 4.16 and older I no longer have the problem. Also, I don't have the problem in any other programs (tested with OBS, Xsplit, Shadowplay and Bandicam). Right now I always "downgrade" the version by copy the old files of version 4.16 into the steam folder. But that's no solution, I would like to use the newer versions of the software.

I use the following setup:

windows 11
Ryzen 9 3900x
Gigabyte Aorus 2080TI
Focusrite Scarlet Solo 3rd gen
DBX286s
beyerdynamic DT 979 and sometimes RE 320.

A sample video to get an idea of what I'm talking. It was recorded with the demo version from your website, because I wanted to test if I might have an issue with the steam version. Spoiler: both versions are forcing this issue:

Bold theory: Could it be because of the OriSound feature which has been introduced with 4.17 back then?

Can someone help me please? If you need further infos please respond. Thanks very much in advance!

if you start with the version where ori sound was added, there are problems with the audio clipping

Just on a sidenote:

when I use the application specific setting for my ingame sound and switch for example the teamspeak/discord sound to the third audio source, which is recorded as an separate wav file there is no crackling at all. It seems that this only occurs when the ingame AND voice is mixed within the first track under "primary sound (system)". It feels like the voice is boosted and gets clipped even though I turned the setting down to 30%.
In the past I reinstalled my PC several times, that did not help. Today I switched back to Action! 4.16, which still works very well. For now my workaround is like I described above (three audio tracks). That also means it's at least not an urgent issue.

I hope this will help you. If I can assist in any way please do not hestiate to write that. Thank you!

So it is the second audio device that is crackling?

Sorry no. The first audio track is crackling. I often play games while talking to mates. If there are background sounds and my mate is talking his voice is way to loud and is crackling/clipping. When there is no sound at all in the background the voice is perfectly fine. I uploaded a video to demonstrate this effect, link in first post of this thread.

Thank you!

Try to setup different primary sound device and see if the same problem occurs.

I plugged in an normal USB Headset and tested it again. No issues so far. It seems that the problem only occurs when I use my XLR Headset with my Scarlet Solo. BUT: why does this problem do not occur in Action 4.16 and older? Why are other program not affected by this issue? For me it makes no sense. I once saw a thread in steam from a guy who had similiar issues and it never got resolved, seems like an very specific problem.

Do you have any further ideas for testing and possibly resovling this problem? Thanks a bunch!
