Stuttery Recording When Using Nvidia

Sun Oct 22, 2023 4:04 pm

so recently ive been getting stuttery recordings when using nvidia container when recording. I'm not too sure if its because of the last nvidia drivers update or the last action update, all the new recordings are choppy both video and audio, and weirdly shaky like when v-sync is extremely bad. I reinstalled both using software that removes all remaining files and it's the same thing. so something is conflicting.

Ps. its fine if I disable it but the frames are cut by too much to enjoy recording with it. and yes I tested it with GPU scheduling too.

Hello. What do you mean by "using nvidia container"? Could you please describe your setup so we could try to recreate this issue?

its like a off vsync. this video may show you a bit but its worst than that. its too bad to upload to be honest. it seems like uploading it to youtube fixes it slightly. it only happens when I use the nvidia / mp4 format. worked good all the time just started on the recent update. the thing is both nvidia nd Mirillis had an update at similar date so I'm not sure which one is making this happen.

I'm having the same issue! It just started yesterday. Other recordings were fine until I installed the latest Nvidia driver. I'm thinking that is the issue. My recording is choppy and super jittery.

After latest update 4.38.0, stutters with MP4 output

Sun Oct 29, 2023 7:10 pm

Hey, so this really sucks, was recording hundreds of hours of a game and all seems to be going great, didn't bother to check the last 30 hours of recording until now, after i installed the update on the 25th.

So the problem is that it stutters, when i move around and in cutscenes, its stutters whenever there is movement with the mouse or in game cutscenes, it is unusable, so now i have to replay 30 hours, but enough of me crying.

So i tried alot of stuff and i was hoping someone had a solution for this.

- Problems started after latest update
- It works with other recording softwares
- Same problem on all 3 screens
- I can record 1080p and 2160p with no issue, it is only the 1440p wich i want to record in and have been doing
- Game capture and screen capture is the same issue
- If i record a certain area (almost entire screen) there is no issue
- The output is MP4 i want to have, it works with AVI except i get a really loud sharp sound recorded at the same time, i dont know what that is
- Doesn't matter wich codec or hardware acceleration, still the same issue
- Doesn't matter if i change from fullscreen to borderless in the game
- The game is Cyberpunk 2077
- I have RTX 3080, I9 11900k, 64G DDR4, 2K 144Hz monitors
- Video Size in Action! 1440p
- Video framerate 60fps

I have about 2-300 hours without an issue except after last update

For now i'll record in 2160p but it is not really optimal for the framerate

Any suggestions?

I updated to latest NVIDIA 545.92 Drivers and also ACTION Prompted a New Update so i did it, some hours later i went to record my games as always and they are horrible choppy, tried all and the only one that works perfect is .AVI, all the rest present the same exact issue. I did a DDU to complete removal of them, installed again and same, tried the previous version i was on and same...I did have this issue in other ACTION versions and was fixed with ACTION Updates.

So i can only record in .AVI that takes like 5 times more than MP4 :/

I have the same issue, this happens because the driver 545.92-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql , i reinstalled the old driver and then everthing works fina again. Maybe mirillis have to update something this is a new driver.

It is a problem with new NVIDIA drivers. We are going to release new version soon with a temp fix, but the problem should be fixed by NVIDIA.
