When I start recording I lose game sounds to my headset.

So whenever I start recording I lose realtime sound. The software still records me and the game and its sound but I can't hear the game as I'm playing and this seems a little odd to me. It doesn't matter in some games but in most games you need to be able to hear what's going on. Any ideas?
