Need help with FPS drops when recording in Action!

Thu Sep 04, 2025 3:47 am

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using Action! to record some gameplay (mainly CS:GO and Apex Legends) and overall I really like the quality compared to OBS. However, I’m running into an issue with FPS drops whenever I start recording.

PC specs: Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 Super, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 (22H2).

Recording settings: 1080p @ 60fps, AVI, NVIDIA NVENC, bitrate ~30Mbps.

Without recording, I get ~200 fps in CS:GO. As soon as I start Action!, it drops to around 120–130 fps and feels less smooth.

I’ve tried changing to MP4, lowering the bitrate, and even switching to CPU recording, but the FPS still drops more than I’d expect.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are there specific settings in Action! that help reduce FPS impact while keeping good video quality?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
