Can you add such information as the comment?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purevideo# ... reVideo_HD
All current third generation PureVideo hardware (G98, MCP77, MCP78, MCP79, MCP7A) cannot decode H.264 for the following horizontal resolutions: 769-784, 849-864, 929-944, 1009–1024, 1793–1808, 1873–1888, 1953–1968 and 2033-2048 pixel
E.g. 854x480 and 1024x576 videos can't be played using H/W acceleration on my ION - so I have to turn off it manually.

GTX 460 + WIndows 7

H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2 - works like a charm! :)

COMPUTER: DESKTOP
GPU VENDOR: ATI
GPU MODEL: RADEON 5750 - 1GB VRAM - Driver: Catalyst 10.8
OS: WINDOWS 7 x64 ULTIMATE

H.264 fastest acceleration than any other player

VC-1 fastest acceleration than any other player

MPEG-2 fastest acceleration than any other player

Two and a half problems though:

WMV - No acceleration at all

H.264 UHD (4096 x 2304) - No acceleration at all

MPEG-2 : Not full acceleration. Small CPU usage. Not like H.264 or VC-1 which is almost 0%

Sample for H.264 UHD:

Strange, nVidia GPU's should decode H.264 video with any number of reference frames (even 16 at 1080p).
Splash has problem with Intel GPU's (however there is an external decoder that could decode 1080p with 16 Ref's), and ati (maybe h/w problem since there are no such decoders), but with nVidia everything is perfect, even on much weaker hardware (like 9400M that I had).

Nope. Its not working on either of my two NVidia cards, Video crashes after a few minutes of playing (while Audio keeps running). Software decoding works fine.
