Your best bet is to convert using SUPER converter, then your own video editing software will be able to read the file. :)

SUPER converter is probably the best free converter that is fully customizable & lots of options to choose from without any charge. It'll naturally pop up near the top of Google but here it is.

In our San Diego video production, generally we use Jahshaka and it works too good. Have you ever used it?? You may try this once. And start with trial version.

Try Joyoshare Video Converter. It can trim video, crop video, rotate video, add effect and so on.

Joyoshare media cutter has quite some video editing functions and is easy to handle.
It is suitable for beginners like me. There are plenty of tutorials and FAQs listed on their sites, despite that the software itself is easy to use.
I initially bought this tool because I want to add subtitles and a watermark to a video I shot without re-encoding, and it did the job pretty well.

If you really need a video editor, I' d like to recommend a powerful software: AceMovi.

I have used it for several times. With its main function of video editing,, it really works well.

Hope this is useful for you.

Good Luck. :D
