Action is pesky to record

Fri May 30, 2014 12:48 am

I started to notice this recently on my copy of Action. When ever I would use the key bind command to start recording it would say on the task bar that it is recording but not in the game. Then if I went to look at the main windows of Action it says recording then stops after 3 seconds. It never recorded anything in that time. Can this be a bug? It happens a lot and will not stop.

If you mean that you start to record in "game mode" in a game, then alt-tab to Windows desktop to confirm it's recording, then it is very normal for Action! to stop recording, as you're not into your game anymore. For that technique to work, you would have instead to choose to play your game in "fullscreen (windowed)" mode, and choose the "active screen" recording with Action!. That way you could alt-tab, see the big "R", alt-tab back to the game, without stopping the recording.

On the other end, in the recording itself, you would see your desktop, while you switched to it, to check. The BEST way to confirm Action! is recording, is by actually using the HUD. Not sure why you completly disabled it. With it you get graphical confirmation, IN your game, that it is recording!

I do have the HUD. I have switched tasks a few times and I will try to do things in full screen that is probably why it wasn't working. But I still cannot understand as to why when I tell it to record the HUD doesn't say it's recording but the little red dot icon on the taskbar puts the R for recording up. It's not recording. Then it says it stopped. I do believe that it's die to me not playing in full screen.
