Video file bitrate too low

Sun Oct 06, 2019 11:03 pm

Hello,

I've tried Action! in the past and loved it, but could not justify the price without the option to at least manually choose a bitrate.

After the update to choose a bitrate, I tried the trial and the max bitrate finally worked!

With the release of this new version I saw that a forced max bitrate could be made and I decided to buy the product. Unfortunately, it seems like the video files are still recording at around 30-50mbps bitrate. This bitrate is much too low for me and I would really like to use Action! because its interface and performance are great and better than most other recording softwares.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,
Dee

Video bitrate may stay lower when there is no need to encode in higher bitrate. For example if you record static desktop in 1080p then video bitrate will be something about 30 Mbps. But if you record some dynamic game then video may reach 100 Mbps in bitrate.

I do understand that. I tested it in-game with lots of movement. I downgraded to the previous version and the bitrate is now back to 100mbps. Possibly an error in the latest version?

As a follow up, I've done testing using the Overwatch highlights feature and confirmed that the latest Action! version (3.10.2), for some reason, lowers or limits the bitrate to around 60 mbps MAX even when using the force bitrate feature.

Can this truly be looked into?

What hardware acceleration do you use?
