Action! recording looks smooth at first but audio slowly goes out of sync during longer recordings

Mon May 18, 2026 6:57 am

Hi everyone, I’ve been using Action! for gameplay recording on Windows 11 and overall the quality is great, but I’m running into an issue where longer recordings slowly develop audio/video sync problems. Short clips work perfectly, but once the recording goes beyond around 30–60 minutes, the audio starts lagging behind the video little by little. I’ve already tried changing FPS settings, lowering bitrate, recording to a separate SSD, and switching between hardware and software encoding, but the issue still happens occasionally. Has anyone found a reliable fix or certain settings that help prevent desync during long recordings?

I had a similar issue with long recordings. What helped me was making sure the audio sample rate in Windows matched the recording software (48 kHz in my case) and closing any unnecessary background apps before recording. It didn't eliminate the problem completely, but it made the audio sync much more stable. Hopefully there's a permanent fix in a future update.

I had this happen too with longer recordings. Matching the Windows audio sample rate with Action! helped quite a bit for me. I also noticed closing some background apps made the sync more stable, so maybe worth trying that.

I’ve seen a few people report similar gradual audio drift with longer Action! recordings. One thing worth checking is that Windows and Action! are using the same audio sample rate, with 48 kHz being worth testing, and I’d also close unnecessary background apps that might be using audio devices. If you’re running multiple monitors, I’d test with matching refresh rates and HDR disabled as well.
