Check this post for some licensing discussion.

I think the bottom line is that whenever they feel like making a new version worthy of extra licensing fees, they will increment the version number by a whole number and charge again for it.

As far as the samples for the audio, posting clips from movies wouldn't be legal or practical given the file size. I'm sure you can dig around the net and find some.

I've had the same problem with every release of Splash PRO. I would purchase the software if it truly
supported HD Audio as the website states. My system meets all specifications needed for HD Audio,
and bit-streaming works perfectly with MPC-HC. I will not purchase this software until
it does what it claims!

Hi Mike,

I have been able to get Dolby True HD to play on my system but have NOT been able to get DTS MA working. Apparently there are little caveats to getting HD Audio to work with Splash PRO. Ghost told me in a different post that Dolby True HD should work if the container is m2ts. Previously, when it wasn't working for me, it was because I was using mkv as the container. Granted, it would be nice if the program was container agnostic but it doesn't seem to be. I'm told that DTS MA works when using Splash Lite 1.6.0 but I have yet to try it out (I will try it tonight and report back). To sum up, this has been my experience:

Splash PRO 1.3.0:
DTS MA - has never worked for me regardless of container, only plays DTS Core stream
Dolby TrueHD - Works (ONLY with m2ts container)
Dolby Digital+ - Works (only tested with m2ts container)
DTS - Works regardless of container
DD 5.1 - Works regardless of container.

This is all with HDMI out on 10.10c Catalyst Drivers on Windows 7 PRO 64 bit on a Radeon HD 5850 Video Card.

What has your experience been like with HD Audio and Splash PRO?

Hello... thanks for the feedback. I haven't been able to get ANY type of HD Audio from Splash with ANY type of container. I have a mix of .MKV, .TS, and .M2TS (which is the majority) and I have yet to get any bitstreaming.
All I get is either DTS core or LPCM.

What are your audio settings? HDMI out? Through a receiver? To a TV? To a PC? from a sound card? From a Vid card? Have you set Splash PRO to use Video acceleration? Have you set SplashPRO to use 7.1 Bitstream?

Splash 1.3.2 is a wonderful improvement over the previous release. However, there are still some problems. While HD audio bitstreaming has largely been fixed, there is still the problem of DTS-MA from an MKV container. The other audio files, including Dolby True HD, play fine from within MKV bitstreamed to my Denon 991 through an ATI 5770.

Also, I still cannot seek in a MKV file that has been encoded with MKV merge 4.1.1 ("Bouncing Back").

And, please, can you consider allowing program to launch in fullscreen while enabling remote functionality and assignment equivalent to MPC-HC?

Awesome product, gentlemen.
