Can't record system sounds

Thu Sep 26, 2013 2:45 am

Hey,

Just bought Action!. The recording works great and I've tested it using my Mic which also gets recorded fine. I cannot get it to record system sounds though. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have selected Record System Sounds.

All my settings are default, I have the Asus Xonar DG sound card & I'm using a pair of Sennheiser gaming headphones to play the games (not sure if headphones are the issue?). What am I missing?

Disable HF and GX in DSP mode.

Ok I did and still no luck.

I have tried playing the game through my headset and now through my speakers and still no system sounds at all.

What are other options?

Could you post a pic of your Xonar panel?

Here is the Asus panel.

Also, in Action! I have:

Allow Multi-channel recording checked & Record System sounds.

Under Sound settings:

Record mic in separate track in unchecked, My sound card is selected under system sounds & System sounds are max.

Still nothing at all.

Alright, so this is getting really frustrating. I still haven't even been able to use Action! but my friend can no problem (bought 3 copies). I've been trying to fix this for a good 2-3 hours, watching videos reading other forums (even fraps forums) and still nothing.

Xonar DG:

HF & GX are off. PCM is 48 KHz. Set to headphones.

Sound Card settings:

Speakers: Asus Xonar DG device - Default
This is also set to 48 KHz
Exclusive options both on

Recording: Using Xonar "Wave" as default (as the last video I watched said to make it default)
"Playback through this device"
I have it set to Xonar DG
This too also 48 KHz

I even included both setting sections of Action!

What am I missing. This is the worst set up I've ever gone through.

I saw in other thread that you managed to fix your problem with Xonar card.

Here's a quote for other users:

I actually finally figured it out.

Ok here's the steps. I finally am recording system sounds!

Asus Audio Centre: Make sure HF & GX are highlighted white (off).

Go into playback settings, Make sure your speakers are set to 44hz & Set the default recording device to "Wave".

Once in wave, make sure it's properly set for your sound card (don't use system default) & 44hz as well. My asus centre is 48hz.

All I did was that and its finally working, desktop & region mode all work with sound.
