"Active Desktop Region" = recording outside selected area

Thu May 01, 2014 10:04 pm

Hey everyone!

I'm having a strange problem with the "Active Desktop Region" recording outside the selected area -- see screenshots below.

Selected Area:

What is actually recorded:

Strangely, the more I set the region towards the top left corner of my primary monitor, the less it records outside the selected area.

Has anybody else had (and hopefully resolved) this issue?

--- My System Information:
Action Version: 1.19.2.0
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Professional (x64)
Processor: i5-4670k
Ram: 8GB
Motherboard: Asus Z87-C
GPU: None (running two monitors off the mobo)
Monitors: Two 1680x1050 monitors (DVI/VGA)

Let me know if I can clarify anything.

Have you tried unplugging one of your screens and see if the same issue occurs with one screen?

Hello Radi - thanks for the reply!

Yes, I completely unplugged one of the monitors (and restarted the machine), leaving only my primary monitor running off the motherboard via DVI.

What is really strange is when I set the region towards the bottom right hand corner of my screen, it actually loops around and starts recording the bottom left -- see below for what I'm talking about.

What is recorded:

As I mentioned in my first post, the more I set the region towards the top left of my screen, the less severe the problem occurs (it still happens in the furthest top left corner, it's just not as drastically off).

Additional Test:
I own a commercial three license pack, so I tested the region recording on two of my other machines - one of them is running Windows 7 Professional (x64) on a Sabertooth P67 motherboard / 2600k processor (two monitors, GTX660).

The other machine is running nigh on the same hardware as the machine that is having the problem -- Windows 8.1 Professional (x64) on a Asus Z87-c motherboard / i5-4570 (three monitors, onboard DVI, VGA, HDMI).

The Windows7 machine works correctly and records only in the selected region; however, the Windows 8.1 machine (which is running similar hardware to this machine) has the exact same problem.

Let me know if there's anything else you want me to check.

Hey Radi, In addition to my post above, I just found something out that may help you.

The problem occurs when I set the region to 1280x720; however, if I set the region to 1280x719 or 1280x721 the program records correctly inside the selected region.

Thanks, I will try to reproduce this issue and see if I can get the same result as you.

Hello,

I had the same problem and the workaround, setting the region to 1280x721, worked for me!
Thank you. Hope this will be fixed in the next versions.

Regards!
