Laggy videos in Star Citizen

Star Citizen finally got updated with the Arena Commander (Space Dogfighting) and I wanted to record some videos of it.

Unfortunately, Action didn't record more than a couple of minutes and those few minutes became really laggy similar to this Watch_Dogs video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-9ta0eDrls

I guess this is normal for newer games since it's happening to most of the newly released games. Is there a way to improve the recording experience without switching to AVI? I have really tight harddrive space now and MP4 (AMD App) is the only file format that doesn't eat my harddrive
