Lag in recordings after new update (4.45.0) (May 5, 2025)

Sun May 11, 2025 4:23 am

Hello,
I been having issues with (Active Screen Recording) after latest update (4.45.0) (May 5, 2025). There is a wired lag and frame drop that feels like 20 fps for around 10 second in random parts of the video. While The game is running fine at constant 60FPS and being recorded at 60FPS with 20-30% GPU utilization. I been using screen capture + .exe exclusion method to capture old game for last year and never had any issue until now.

I have now switched back to the previous version (4.44.1) (Feb 17, 2025) and tested around 2 hours of footage. Everything seems to working just fine like before so I can confirm new update broke something in (Active Screen Recording). Did not test Game recording though and don't intend to as I do not use that mode.

OS: Windows 10
Video Card: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti
Memory: 16 GB (DDR4)
Monitor Resolution: 2560 x 1440
Game Problem: Any Game
Video Type: MP4
Video Bitrate : 70mbps (Forced)

Thanks for sharing the details — I also experienced similar lag after updating to 4.45.0, especially when using Active Screen Recording. It does seem like the update affected recording performance. Rolling back to 4.44.1 as you suggested is a reasonable solution until an official fix is released.

I’m experiencing the same issue since the 4.45.0 update — noticeable stutter and frame drops during random parts of recordings, even though in-game performance stays smooth at 60 FPS. Rolling back to version 4.44.1 completely resolves the problem, so it seems the new update affected the Active Screen Recording feature.
It might help if the dev team could check what changed in the recording pipeline or encoder handling in this release. For now, staying on 4.44.1 seems to be the best workaround.

I totally get what you're saying about the lag issue post-update. It's frustrating when performance takes a hit, especially during screen recording. Rolling back seems like a solid temporary fix. Have you tried reaching out to Mirillis support to see if they are aware of this and working on a fix? It might help speed up the process.
