(I sent you guys an email, but I guess you're more active on the forums)
Hey, I've been running the demo for Action! for the last 2 days. Though I did like the demo, I don't think it's worth buying for the following reasons:
First off, the only reason (for me at least) your product is worth considering is that it uses Quick Sync to hardware-encode video. I must say, it works wonderfully! I've never been able to capture video at 1080p at 60fps in realtime like this before.
However, 1080p is not my monitor's native resolution. 1920x1200 is. Your program seems to have a hard-coded max height of 1080 pixels when using Quick Sync. My 1920x1200 footage shows up as 1728x1080 in the mp4 file that comes out. Not only that, but the export video option also only allows heights of up to 1080p, from what I can tell. Is there really no way to go beyond 1080p? Ivy bridge Core processors support up to 4k with quick sync!
Secondly, the mp4 files (AAC + AVC) outputted by this program, though they play just fine in Windows Media Player (using FFDshow + LibAV demuxer) and VLC, I cannot import the video stream into Sony Vegas. I get only audio.
Thirdly, there's no way to ignore certain programs, is there? I use Stardock Deskscapes on my desktop and I have a fps counter in the top right that I'd like to get rid of.
There seems to be no way to set the microphone hotkey to a mouse button. I have a Logitech G400 mouse, most other game capture programs let me assign the side buttons of my mouse to the microphone key.
In addition, the audio bitrate for Quick Sync video is far too low. Would you call 128kbps AAC audio "high definition"? I wouldn't. And the video bitrate is a little bit low, but I've heard that that is about as much as Quick Sync will allow.
And why doesn't the program support multiple mp4 audio tracks? Or multichannel audio for mp4s?
Also, is there a way to only record game audio, and not audio other applications make?
