Some feedback & suggestions for Action!

Mon Jan 16, 2012 5:23 am

Hi, further using the program, I have some feedback and suggestions for Action!

What I like:
- Showing the average framerates.
- Able to record microphone.
- Able to record microphone only when you press a button.
- Able to choose record video resolution.
- Supports Nvidia CUDA and Intel Quick Sync.
- Recorded video file isn't too big.
- Able to export recorded video with ease.
- Tons of output profile.
- Sleek interface.

But there are a few things I would like to see improved in the future updates.

What I want:
- Able to pre-record.
- Able to disable showing the average framerates.
- Able to adjust the transparency of HUD in games and applications mode.
- Able to create a custom profile (with the option to choose different output formats).
- Able to cut video (maybe even join different recorded videos) before exporting. I hope I'm not asking too much because the recorded video is in Mirillis' proprietary format (.fic).
- Able to unbind hotkey. For example I want to bind my benchmark key to F6 but I can't just unbind Show/Hide HUD and replace it. I'll have to move Show/Hide HUD key to someplace else before binding my benchmark key to F6.

Thanks!

Thank you for the great feedback!

1) Can you please describe more detailed what you mean about prerecord?
2) We consider to provide more minimalistic versions of HUD
3) We do not plan to add transaprency in the near fuure as it will lower the performance.
4) Cutom profile you mean in the export window?
5) Cut, join and more is planned for Action! Studio, but we do not have release date defined for this product yet. First we will add export to uncompressed avi so it should be easy to edit with 3rd party software.
6) This is clear.

1. Like some other video capture utility, I can press/hold a second on the record button to let it buffer for a while (let's say 60 seconds), and when I press the record button again, it will start recording with the last 60 seconds you missed.

3. I don't really mind, but I think this is a nice feature.

4. Yes, so I can have a output profile namely "My Profile" with personal set of video quality, bitrate, etc.

5. "we will add export to uncompressed avi so it should be easy to edit with 3rd party software." Honestly, I didn't expect this, but wow, thanks!

And thanks again for your reply.

1. it is clear now, thanks for explanation. this feature is planned for fuure versions but we do not know when it will be added.
3. we could introduce this in future. we already had this done but removed because of perfomrance issues on some graphics cards and games.
4. This is not planned at the moment, we plan to add this functionality in addvanced
exporting view in Splash Pro Ex but it is not planned atthe moment for Action!

I hope feature 1. is still being going to be implemented. It's the only thing missing for me to use Action!

Has any progress been made on this feature?
