Sony Vegas Pro 11, no video.

Mon Jul 16, 2012 1:01 am

Hi there, everytime I want to edit a exported .mp4 file from Action! my Sony Vegas only shows audio and no video. However i have another .mp4 file that works just great.

The Action! exported .mp4 works great in WLMM and also works with WMP.

Do I need a special codec pack? installed quite a few today none of them worked.

The easiest way to fix this is to update your version to 1.6.0 where we added recording directly to .avi

but here's another solution:
1) Download (7MB) and install Yamb - http://www.videohelp.com/tools/YAMB
This is an easy-to-use program for fixing MP4 files so they can be accepted by AE 5 but it should also work for Sony Vegas
2) Start the program, click ADD and selected your exported MP4 Action! file.
3) Click "Mux" in right bottom corner.
4) New created MP4 files should work correctly now with your Sony Vegas.

The "muxing" process does not affect the video quality and usually takes few minutes.

Is it possible to get a sample file? So we can try to reproduce your issue and see what's going on.

Not sure what you mean with a sample file? you want me to post my .mp4 exported files here on the forum?

Well, not exactly on the forum. They don't have to be public. If you can, please send them to support team via support@mirillis.com. We can share a FTP server for larger files.

Or you can try this if your PC is good enough.

1) Download and install Splash Player (PRO or PRO EX version)
2) Start Action! and set Game and Application mode.
3) Open your .fic file in Splash player.
4) Record your .fic video directly from Splash player with Action! 1.6.0 to .avi format.

If your PC is good enough you should have good and clean footage in .avi format.

Yeah thought of that allready, but I dont have the original .fic files, I deleted those after the export to save HDD space. And recording the .mp4 back to .avi makes a bigger file, and I cant afford the HDD space right now.

Now someone on youtube told me he installed a few codec packs and the problem was over. I'm just hoping it's that easy because I really like those gameplay files. Aren't there any standard procedures that I can follow before trying the file sharing? I downloaded a K-lite Codec pack, which was the most complete one. Still Vegas only displays a sound bar.

Hello,

are you recording your microphone audio to separate track? If so there is issue (bug) with Mirillis Action! that causes this. There is no fix on your end other than to remux the file into a different container. The solution must come from Mirillis team.
