Problem convertion .fic to .avi

Tue Aug 28, 2012 8:41 am

Hi, first think, i'm sorry for my bad english, i'm french :x and i didn't see any french forum, hope you understand me^^

So i have a game who have a framerate of 140FPS, when i record with action in HD, Action! lock the framerate at 60FPS, ok.
When i watch the movies IN Action, all is good ! Sounds is good, fluidity is perfect. But when i'm export that files in .avi in HD, the clip is no more fluid, the framerate is not a 60, it move between 30 and 45 fps ! Sounds too... I can't watch it correctly (i'm really not sure of that sentence :x).

What's the problem ? Do you have other solution ?

Thanks for the answer again sorry foe my english^^

--- Français plus bas ---

English :
What do you use to convert it from FIC to AVI ?
Maybe it's just a problem with the codec used in the AVI format, to heavy for your hard drive or CPU to read/decode.
A simple solution I used to convert FICs to AVIs : play the FIC file in a media player (or in Action! itself) and record it with the new Action! that now makes AVI files.

I use Action for convert .fic to .avi
I have Action 1.3, maybe it's time to do an update^^ The files are really big (HD), like 30-40Go per files.

I update my Action and try again ;)

EDIT : after update the clip is fluid but i have a big quality loss and framerate loss. Action is the only soft to convert .fic to .avi ?

I use this technic :
play the FIC file in a media player (or in Action! itself) and record it with the new Action! that now makes AVI files.
Always quality loss :/

And a over thing : with Action 1.9, the clip is in .avi but VLC can't read it ><

EDIT 2 : Sony Vegas can read it so it's ok.

Now i can record with an excellent quality but my old video are out :/

avi is just a container. Actually you can put all content of .fic file into avi. That is what latest Acion! does.
Also latest versions of Acion! comes with DirectShow decoder, so you can decode video (not 100% sure, but it should be compatible with all previous versions) in any program that support DS filter. Like MPC-HC, avisynth (=> MeGUI, Xvid4PSP 5, VirtualDub, or even x264 without any GUI), Sony Vegas, Adobe Products... Some of them don't support DS splitters (so that don't support fic contatiner), thats why latest Action! uses .avi container.

If you want to change container to .avi without reencoding - try AviMuxGUI. I don't have old .fic files to test, but it should work.
