Some ideas

Thu Sep 20, 2012 3:51 pm

Hi all, I have some ideas to make this program even better. :)

1) Custom resolution and FPS (also unlimited)
- Option to not slow FPS while recording (e.g. recording at 30 fps, user can see 60)
- Option to choose monitor, on what will be recorded video

2) Add way to record without aero, and option to automatically disable it (why this program need it?) With multiple monitors it really will help.

3) Multitrack audio (both video and audio recording) examples:
- All programs and mic on 1 track
- All programs and mic on 2 tracks (Users, who need best quality don’t have to launch and use Audition, or another programs while recording)
- Every program and mic on different tracks (the best option, but can be hard to make, will help when using Skype, and recording game)
-
- Option to record in 1 file (if possible)(added) or record every track to different file
- Option to choose what track will be in video file (on 1st place or only if second option above used).

4) Compression rate (quality) + size (av. bitrate). It will make user able to adjust settings to their hardware. e.g.
- Low compression rate + high size to record like Fraps
- High compression rate + low size to record like Bandicam
- Normal both settings to record like now
- Best way will be to make 5 levels (not 3) of quality and size (low, low-normal, normal, high-normal, high or something like it), when normal settings should be written “recommended”.

5) Audio bitrate option (also when video recording)

6) Option to export only audio track (e.g. only microphone to edit it), and add option to choose codec (mp3, AAC or wma lossless and bitrate

7) OpenCL support (more needed in Splash) (Intel made dev-kit)

8) Option to change window size to default temple (1080p, 720p, 480p etc.) or custom size. There should be option to choose change inside or outside window size.

9) PayPal in Poland

10) When clicking on text also enables or disables selected option (not only on “square”), like on most other programs, and Windows programs

11) Upgrading in program (no need to download next version from site)

Version 1.10 add option to record is separate tracks (system and mic), but Premiere Pro don’t see microphone track. Windows media player sees it. Please make patch, or tell what I should do with it, because its great function. Without audio export this function is now useless.

If something was explained not enough to understand, please reply I will try explain it better, add some screenshots. I’m not very good at English. Please reply, even one word. I want to know if someone read this.

Please add most of functions, every of it will be useful. It will make this program much better from other programs combined in one. All points (excluding 7, too much work and 11) will really help.

PS. Some points can be bit outdated, I started collecting ideas when was 1.9.0

Thanks for the detailed feedback. We also received your email regarding these suggestions. I marked in red my comments

Hi all, I have some ideas to make this program even better.
1) Custom resolution and FPS (also unlimited)
- Option to not slow FPS while recording (e.g. recording at 30 fps, user can see 60) Action! does not reduce in-game FPS, the fps showed in HUD while recording is the recorded FPS not current in-game framerate
- Option to choose monitor, on what will be recorded video You can switch between your monitors with F8 key (default hotkey)

2) Add way to record without aero, and option to automatically disable it (why this program need it?) With multiple monitors it really will help. It's not possible to record your desktop with Aero disabled. It's due the technology we are using in it.

3) Multitrack audio (both video and audio recording) examples:
- All programs and mic on 1 track Already in.
- All programs and mic on 2 tracks (Users, who need best quality don’t have to launch and use Audition, or another programs while recording) Added in 1.10.0
- Every program and mic on different tracks (the best option, but can be hard to make, will help when using Skype, and recording game) Since most of the additional programs are not marked as devices there's no easy way to add them as separate audio track.
-
- Option to record in 1 file (if possible)(added) or record every track to different file
- Option to choose what track will be in video file (on 1st place or only if second option above used).

4) Compression rate (quality) + size (av. bitrate). It will make user able to adjust settings to their hardware. e.g.
- Low compression rate + high size to record like Fraps You can choose low quality in your video recording settings
- High compression rate + low size to record like Bandicam Planned
- Normal both settings to record like now
- Best way will be to make 5 levels (not 3) of quality and size (low, low-normal, normal, high-normal, high or something like it), when normal settings should be written “recommended”.

5) Audio bitrate option (also when video recording)

6) Option to export only audio track (e.g. only microphone to edit it), and add option to choose codec (mp3, AAC or wma lossless and bitrate. You can do this with some free software like virtual dub

7) OpenCL support (more needed in Splash) (Intel made dev-kit)

8) Option to change window size to default temple (1080p, 720p, 480p etc.) or custom size. There should be option to choose change inside or outside window size. I don't get this.

9) PayPal in Poland PayPal payments are available in Poland, for this matter contact Polish Sales Team via sprzedaz@mirillis.pl

10) When clicking on text also enables or disables selected option (not only on “square”), like on most other programs, and Windows programs

11) Upgrading in program (no need to download next version from site) If you have checked "Check for updates" box you should get an information near system tray that new version is available for download.

Version 1.10 add option to record is separate tracks (system and mic), but Premiere Pro don’t see microphone track. Windows media player sees it. Please make patch, or tell what I should do with it, because its great function. Without audio export this function is now useless. We are aware of this issue, as soon as we will find a fix for this we will add it to the next version.

Ok, I'll try to explain that better.

1. Ok, I tested with lowest FPS settings and its true, but program should display current FPS (best would be give choose to user).

3. Yeah, it can be almost impossible to do, Windows isn't good.

6. There in no way to export only audio, without other programs. Actually some software (such as Premiere Pro, yeah I know you are working at it, but other programs won't see it) doesn't detect second audio track. Action! should give option to export only audio (and way to choose bitrate and codec of course) just to edit it in audio software (like Audition or Audacity).

8. Yes I wrote it bad (My English sucks a bit :( ) Just program have way to change window size, when recording in window. For example: I want to record video from program in 720p and I don't want to change window size, to perfect size, just program would do it for me.

11. I've thinked about it once again and it really don't matter if its downloaded from site or directly in program.

Ok, it was bit stupid, but something probably helped.
Again, some point are outdated (like 3)

Nothing is stupid, our users feedback is important for us. About to exporting audio only. You can easily do this in Virtual Dub. Just open your avi in VD, select from the top menu Audio, then Source audio, then choose Stream 2 (this is your microphone path). And then go to file select Save WAV and choose the file destination, press save and now you have your second audio path seperated from the file for further use.

Ok, thanks for answer, I'll use this tip, but having that option will be just easier. I love Mirillis for community support like indie game studios. :)
Edit: Yeah, it works, but stability of this program is crap.

Re: Some ideas

Sun Sep 23, 2012 2:13 pm

I got few more ideas at export options, if i record the game sound and mic at separate track, and at the export cuz i use action's export option to export an option to mix them together, with same audio level or audio level control like at recording, and preview export to test the the options of the audio levels of the different track's (10 sec,30 sec 1 min)
and another one option for multiple mic sources cuz i use 3 sound source 1for game (optical for wireless headset) 1for mic 1for teamspeak sound this wto the mic and teamspeak is an usb sound card , (my on borad mic/analog output is broken), and an option to record the mic and teamspeak sound to one, so i dont need to use a 3rd party program as sound source in which i mix them together, the built in windows stereeo mixer not working if i set my optical output as the deafault sound device aka system sound, and the usb sound card for default recording device aka microphone(the mic/sound output for teamspeak)this usb sound card connects to my headset with a so called talk back cable so i can set the game sound and the teamspeak/chat sound separetly, no alt+tab needed
multiple sound source to record:source1 source 2 source 3/mic1 mic2 mic3
example for multiple sound source/recording sources and mixing options of them
Source 1name Game sound aka system sound as now a tickable option for record and if yes when to record from a drop down menu first option always record, record on button down and option for mixing: no mix it will be recorded to audio track one, mix with source 2 mix with source 3 etc, if a different source is selected it will mix it with that source
source 2 name microphone when to record only button down (teamspeak's push to talk button for me its mouse button4 action doesnt allow me to set it for recording "restricted key" or somethign like that) ,mixing option
source 3 name teamspeak sepperate audio device then the system sound only teamspeak sound always record option mix with source 2 so the mic and teamspeak sound is on the same level,so what i speak in the mic can be heard as the the teamspeak what i hear from the others who speaks besides the game sound
so in one word multiple sound source recording option for more than system sound and microphone and mixing option for them
i hope this is understandable

Well, VD is free. So you can't expect a super ultra performance from it.

In 1.10 you can choose which device should be used for Microphone recording. As for the separate audio track from another applications like TeamSpeak - it's impossible, since TS is an application, not a sound/recording device.

Okay i understand that the teamspeak is an aplication.
But for an option to set a 3rd or 4th source to record, not just microphone, and system sound, as i sad for me there are 3 sound source 1 system 1 mic and 1 teamspeak the mic and teamspeak are both on the usb sound card, my system sound is on optical output, and i want to set the mic and teamspeak sound to record as one, like microphone now in action on a seperate track, while the system sound (game, music) would be on the first track.like we can set it now in action.
another example
soruce 1 system sound
source 2mic
source 3 teamspeak source 3 and source 2 wouldbe called "as mic" and they would be mixed together.
So in one word more sources to record, option to mix them together
egasmple source1 track 1 source2+source 3- mixed together as "microphone"

And what about the preview export, and sound level option for export not only one sound track to export.(audio1, audio2).

Yes, maybe can be possible, now you should try to use Audacity (and try trail of Audition), and please write us if it can record only TS. If yes, its possible, if no it isn't. Can you explain how TS on USB card work on your comp?

My usb sound card is like an usb drive you plug it in and windows recognize it as a sound card.
My main problem is action supports only 2 sound sources to record.system sound and microphone
Ts option playback option where i hear others speak is set on the usb sound card's out put (speakers) green jack
recording aka microphone is plugged in to the usb card red jack inpunt just like a "normal" build in sound card, but in portable designe (usb)
immage from it
Its like a second sound card.
