Using Intel QuickSync with nVidia

Mon Mar 04, 2013 12:41 pm

My question is if it's possible to use quicksync acceleration if i've got QS compatible videocard and nVidia card, used as my main one.

If your motherboard support integrated graphics and CPU supports IQS you will be able to use this functionality. Read more in the Hardware&Settings section in Action! tutorial tab here: http://mirillis.com/en/products/tutoria ... s.html#top

Do you know if it will work on a laptop with the "switchable graphics"? My laptop has a new Intel I7 cpu and an AMD 7970M gfx chip, and it can run in two different modes: dedicated or integrated/switchable. You can switch modes via a reboot on my particular laptop.

In dedicated mode, only the AMD chip is active, and so far I have not been able to figure out how to enable quicksync recording.

In integrated mode, as long as I assign (via AMD Catalyst power settings) the Action app to run on the Intel GPU, then quicksync seems to work.

Well, I can't promise anything but as you said it works if run it via Intel GPU it should work, but the easiest way to find out is to install the trial and check it out.

I already own Action, have been using it in the integrated mode I mentioned.

But would like to see if it can also work in the "dedicated" mode on my laptop. I tried using the tutorial to detect other displays on the screen resolution window, but it doesn't find the Intel display as shown in the tutorial.
