CUDA for video recording

Hi,

From what i understand we can set the software to use intel quicksync for video recording. But i also seem to understand that CUDA can be used only for exporting. I mean you can't take advantage of CUDA during video recording. Is that right ?

Yes.
Intel QuickSync uses separate circuit for video encoding, it's independent from cpu and gpu. However nVidia CUDA is different - it uses shaders for video encoding (same shaders that are used for 3D rendering). That means that encoding video using nVidia CUDA while playing game will hurt perfomance a lot. Also it's slow for video encoding - I'm not sure if it can handle encoding 1080p@60fps...

I have Asus ux32vd with i7 256ssd and 10gb of RAM
I'm using Serato Video mixing software (http://serato.com/video). I want to record my video mixs. To do that i plug an hdmi tv lcd screen to the hdmi port and put my video output window on the lcd screen.

Unfortunatly my Serato Video soft is coded in openGL (not directx) and isn't optimized well and give poor performance playing h264 videos. I can for example open 5 1080p videos at the same time with MPC-HC and have it fluid. But just 2 with my software using Lav Filters setting on CUVID GPU hardware decoding, provide poor results.

So now i know i can record using the intel GPU (hd 4000) and quicksync so permit the nvidia gpu and the cpu not to be too stressed
