Record with Microphone - Game Crashes

Sun Aug 04, 2013 6:36 pm

Hello, I'm hoping someone can provide some technical assistance. When I record without the microphone, I have no issue with the game (Battlefield 3) and recording video. However, when I configure Action to record with microphone and start recording within the game, the game freezes and then crashes.

I have a MSI GT70 2OC laptop with Windows 8. It has a built in webcam and mic, but I'm using a headset and mic in the line jacks (not USB).

Interestingly, when I access the Sound settings from the control panel, and click on the Recording tab, there is a noticeable delay before I can click to access the properties.

I don't believe my issue has anything to do with Action, but is specific to Windows 8. Can any confirm the same issue and whether a solution exists. Please advise, thanks.

As far as I know this is first time someone is reporting such an issue. Have you tried disabling both your microphones in System Sound control panel and enable them one by one to see which one causes the issue?

Radi, thanks for the suggestion. I can't test any video recording until later this afternoon (playing games at work is discouraged LOL), but I did quickly configure the sound setting to list the internal and external mics as separate devices and disabled the internal one. That lag I talked about is completely gone when accessing the recording tab in the sound options. I fully expect to have smooth recording later with the external mic. I will report back later. Thanks! =)

UPDATE: Problem solved. Disabling the internal mic was the trick. Thanks again.
