Xvid4PSP 6 and Freemake VC can't read captured AVI

Sun Oct 20, 2013 11:06 am

Hello,
Is there a free video converter that can be used to convert AVI files captured with Action! ?
I tested Freemake Video Converter and Xvid4PSP 6. Both can't read the AVI files created by Action!
I know there is a convert function in Action! (called Export), but the quality of the video it produces is low (for a given bitrate).
Thanks.

Thank you for your answer.

In the Exportation panel I have (sorry, it's in French) :

Profil : Auto
Qualité de la vidéo : Haute, 1920x1080
Bitrate vidéo : 6.024 Mbps
Piste sonore : Son 01
Son : Stéréo
Dimension de départ : ~27MB (8%)

In the parameters for export, I have :

Checked = User l'accélération matérielle pour encoder la vidéo
NVIDIA CUDA

I have made additionnal tests and I realized that, when NVIDIA CUDA is used, the quality of the exported video is not as good as expected for a 6 Mbps MPEG-4 video. When I uncheck hardware acceleration for export, the exported video is as expected (I made a visual comparison with the same scene captured with another capturing tools and converted to 6 Mbps MPEG-4).

So, I will now let this option unchecked and I consider my problem is solved.

Regards.

Well 6Mpbs is not a top notch quality, but it should be good for a 27mb file. CUDA may lower your quality, but it's much quicker to export video than without it.
