Windows 8 Video Editing

Sun Jan 12, 2014 3:43 pm

I have recently downloaded Action! onto my Windows 8 Hp Pavillion laptop. I can record my videos fine but once I try to edit them in Windows Live Movie Maker the storyboard is grey with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. I record the videos as an AVI file. Also when I try to play the videos on Windows Media Player I only get the audio. Please could you help me!!!

The codec that Action! uses to encode into AVI, which is called FICV, is not compatible with most media players. FICV is definitely not compatible with Windows Movie Maker (which you should not use because it is terrible). For video to play right away you need to export the file first, so it is encoded into H.264 MP4 format. MP4 will play just fine in any modern media player, including Windows Media Player.

Also you should try out video editing software that is available for a reasonable price like Power Director 12, or if you have the money, Adobe Premiere Pro for editing your video.

Also download VLC Media Player, it's free and it will play almost anything. :)

Ummm.... click the export button in Action? I mentioned this in my post above.

No need export to MP4.

Windows Movie Maker Essentials work perfect in Windows 8.

Its open .aVI and .MP4 produced Action files.

Just install K-lite Mega Codec Pack settings from Vegas on this video.
